The Dorris Catherine Haselrig Rideout Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 by William D. Jackson. This Scholarship provides assistance to individuals who have been accepted into an accredited Bachelor’s or Associate degree-granting institution and who are focusing in the area of human services for young people and have expressed or demonstrated interest in working for the improvement of Africans in America.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
Have been accepted in (or currently be an undergraduate student from) any school in the United States and
Be majoring (or specializing) in the area of human services
Be pursuing an Associate degree, a Bachelor’s degree or a certificate
Aspire to work in career fields which academically, morally and socially uplift Black people
Have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
Preference will be given to residents of Allegheny county and surrounding counties and to residents of Cambria county (Johnston area, PA)
Scholarship Amount
(1) $2,000 scholarship is to be awarded in 2023
