The Chapman Urban Scholars Program (CUSP) was established in 2021 by husband and wife Charles and Liz Chapman. The Chapman Urban Scholars Program (CUSP) was created to help underrepresented students on the ‘cusp’ of educational advancement have the necessary opportunities to follow their dreams of studying in the area of social services or one of the sciences. Charles helped start and run a homeless ministry for 20 years and now works with a national missionary sending organization out of Columbus, Ohio. Liz has her PhD in Geology from the University of Pittsburgh and has tutored many students in the sciences as well taught some college science courses. Liz also consults in the oil and gas industry for a nationally renowned, Pittsburgh based company. Both Liz and Charles received full-tuition scholarships to the University of Pittsburgh and know the value of education and the doors that it can open.
