DEAR FRIENDS AND CITIZENS OF THE WORLD:

My name is Loretta Veatrice Williams, aka Vea Williams. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I am a NYC based jazz singer/song stylist & writer/actress. From a very early age I experienced being loved and nurtured by my parents, siblings and other members of the community such as Ms. Betty J. Tilman.

In 1973 while I was a member of the University and City Ministries (UACM) Gospel Choir, Ms. Betty arranged and escorted us on a life affirming journey to East Africa. Recognizing my potential, when we returned, she then arranged for me to perform the opening song for the Ebony Fashion Fair at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh. She also had a special silk dress made for me to wear for the performance. Ms. Betty's gift of love, her faith in my creativity and constant support has helped me to develop and grow into the woman and artist I am today.

Ms. Betty J. Tilman has inspired and impacted the lives of thousands of students, young people and adults by encouraging them to be good critical thinkers, building their self-esteem and encouraging them to excel in their chosen careers. She continues to build bridges of cooperation and support as she actively educates many in the Pittsburgh, PA community.

This is why I am asking you to join me and continue to support her legacy and important work by making your generous tax deductible contributions to the Betty J. Tilman Good Neighbor Legacy Fund created by her daughter, Rev. Melony McGant.

The income from this fund is to be used for organizations or venues that bring awareness to the importance of nurturing children/young adults so that they become critical thinkers and know the history of those who have created Pathways of Hope in Western Pennsylvania and the World. It will help educate the community and encourage participation in projects that help children/young adults learn to embrace their culture, use their creativity and technology, develop their intellectual acumen, understand the legislative process, as well as the importance and power of the vote in a democratic society; And become good citizens of the World. It will honor the legacy of Betty J. Tilman and others who act as Go-Givers.

Thank YOU in Advance for Your Good Wishes and Generous Contribution to the Betty J. Tilman Good Neighbor Legacy Fund.
